12 artists, who have distinguished themselves for their approach to contemporary photography and their expressive capacity, are able to create a strong and deep emotional connection between the viewer and the subjects of the pictures. The collective exhibition is curated by Roberta Fuorvia - “at each edition, I am fascinated to discover the new languages that are making their way into the current photographic landscape with tenacity and ambition. It is interesting to observe images and photographic projects from all over the world and to note how the geographical and cultural origin of the authors is clearly reflected in the aesthetics of their works, creating a distinguishable and distinctive stylistic code.”

Passepartout Photo Prize is an open theme contest that aims to support the development of emerging artists. Not only this biannual contest provides monetary awards, winners receive various exposure through on-site exhibition, publication, feature in various magazines, online galleries, and more. The jury consists of photographers, editors, gallerists, curators and educators and the 2021 editions were led by American photographer Richard Tuschman.
What makes Passepartout Photo Prize unique from other thousands of photographic contests is its focus on “fine art photography” and creating physical exhibitions. The artistic director Olmo Amato described, “at a time in history when most photographic images created digitally remain in the virtual realm, we felt the need to create a contest that would give visibility to the authors with a real exhibition. A physical gallery where we could observe the photographs not as pixels but as printed images and art objects.”

This growing contest aspires to become more than just a contest - to create a hub for fine art photographers to be inspired and gain experiences in the art business. The new call for Passepartout Photo Prize 6th edition is also opening in September.
